Connect to the Alps

Getting There and Around

Located in Southwestern Bavaria at the foothills of the Alps, bordering Austria and Switzerland, the Allgäu is highly accessible yet wonderfully wild. Munich Airport (MUC) sits just a 2-hour drive or direct train ride away from the peaks, while Zurich Airport (ZRH) offers a scenic 2.5-hour journey across the border. For the fastest route, fly directly into Memmingen (FMM)—the Allgäu Airport. Once you are here, a network of regional trains glides through the entire Allgäu, linking mountain towns with alpine valleys. The best part? Traveling sustainably costs you nothing. When checking into your accommodation, you will receive a local guest card—with most of these cards, regional trains and buses are completely free for the duration of your stay.
