Across Kühgund and Iseler

The Iseler, located between Bad Hindelang and Schattwald, is known for its excellent view. The Iseler ridge and the Kühgrund group form the northern end of the Rauhhorn ridge. But the Iseler (1876 m) is not the highest summit of the mountain range. The Kühgundkopf is 1907 m high. From the top station of the Wannenjochbahn we hike a bit on the so-called "Schmugglersteig". We continue alongside the German-Austrian border across the Kühgund ridge up to the Kühgundspitze and Kühgundkopf.

While the tour runs across the gentler south-east side of the ridge, it still requires sure-footedness and a head for heights. The most difficult passages of the passage up the Iseler are secured with ropes. The entire tour provides impressive views of Ostrachtal, Retterschwanger and Tannheimer Valley as well as the Allgaeu Alps with Hochvogel, Großer Daumen and Rauhhorn.
